Advice from the Haringey Council website:

Everyone can play a part in looking after trees in their street, by following a few simple steps.

And if you register your interest by emailing us, and tell us which trees you will be helping to look after, we will send you updates on new tree plantings or planned tree works taking place in your street.

To help with the planting and early establishment of young trees:
  • water during the first few years after planting
  • remove weeds from around the base of the tree
  • prune any small or damaged branches

To assist with the management of mature trees:
  • remove basal growth - small shoots growing from the base of the trunk
  • report any damage - caused by vehicles, dogs, building works or vandalism

If you want to get even more involved with the protection of trees, become a Tree Warden

In Tottenham seven trees were planted in a ring over 400 years ago for reasons lost in time; the Seven Sisters area and the underground station are named after them. The seven trees have been replanted a number of times, always by seven sisters.

The Tottenham Trees logo, shown on the right, is a silhouette of the Bruce Castle Oak with the logo of the Charter for Trees, Woods and People launched in November 2017, on the 800th anniversary of the Royal Charter of the Forest.
