Sadly the death of Dick Tomlinson, our local Tree Officer who was committed to teaching
young people on growing trees, means that the project is currently suspended.

Tottenham's Future Forest  was launched on Sunday 3 December 2017 with the planting of the Tree Charter Legacy Oak in Bruce Castle Park by the young Bruce Grove Growers.   The Tottenham's Future Forest project was inspired by tree enthusiasts  Wangari Maathai, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Dick Tomlinson, Tottenham's Tree Officer, whose interest  in trees started with the Plant A Tree In '73 campaign when he was at school.  The growers will be establishing a tree nursery in their garden at the Haringey Youth Space on Bruce Grove with support from Dick and Tottenham Trees.

In Tottenham seven trees were planted in a ring over 400 years ago for reasons lost in time; the Seven Sisters area and the underground station are named after them. The seven trees have been replanted a number of times, always by seven sisters. 

The Tottenham Trees logo, shown on the right, is a silhouette of the Bruce Castle Oak with the logo of the Charter for Trees, Woods and People launched in November 2017, on the 800th anniversary of the Royal Charter of the Forest.
