Except absorb the Carbon Dioxide
that suffocates our fragile home.

Nothing.

Except capture the pollution
that chokes our children’s lungs.

Nothing.

Except produce the oxygen
our lives depend on.

Nothing.

Except absorb floodwater
and return it to the sky.

Nothing.

Except shade us
from our scorching sun.

Nothing.

Except comfort us
in our darkest hour.
